Magic is a trait found within all conscious and unconscious beings. Although the world lacks complete balance, all living creatures manage to coexist. Peace prevails during this time. There is little interaction or conflict among races. Over time, the flow of magic in the universe begins to fluctuate. These fluctuations cause anomalies in the world, leading to distorted geography, the death of living beings, and increasingly unstable magic.
At first, magical anomalies appear natural, but over time, they begin to attract the attention of all races. Malken Dawn, a Lorkan spokesperson, seeks to control the situation and starts preparing a council to discuss how to handle the growing magical instability. A central location is chosen, and a council is formed under his leadership: 14 high members and 42 lower members. The Purifiers Society is established, bringing together beings from various races to study and attempt to eliminate these anomalies.
After over 50 years of research, a breakthrough occurs: a magical item called the Magic Silencer is developed, capable of neutralizing anomalies in a short time.
During this period, Malken Dawn fathers a son with a human woman, Seela Trun. This is the only recorded relationship between a Lorkan and a Human. Malken keeps it secret, fearing it would cause disorder within the Society.
Malken begins experiments to cast magic without relying on the Magic Silencer. Locking himself in his lab, he implants a small fragment of the stone used in the Silencer into his hand. Eventually, he succeeds. However, the Silencer’s mechanism requires that the energy from the stone be balanced by the caster’s own magic energy. Once implanted, the stone draws on the host’s energy—something Malken is unaware of. It’s also unknown whether Lorkans are affected by this.
Upon his success, Malken shares the results with the council. They approve the method, and soon other races begin using it. Over time, side effects appear: those using the implant and those around them begin to suffer illnesses and death.
The Magic Silencer is widely used by all races without issue for a long time. It becomes common, with many individuals receiving implants. Eventually, users begin to suffer from fever, internal bleeding, and infections around the implanted stone. These side effects do not affect the Lorkan. Since only non-Lorkans experience them, Malken Dawn and the entire Lorkan race are accused of orchestrating mass euthanasia and are excommunicated. The Purifiers Society dissolves. Lorkans living in other races’ lands are killed, exiled, or tortured.
Amidst the chaos, Kenzie Dawn, the son of Malken Dawn and Seela Trun, is left alone—accepted by neither Lorkans nor Humans. His mixed heritage causes his magical powers to develop differently. He becomes the first known practitioner of necromancy. Filled with hatred toward all races, Kenzie begins planning their destruction. He tries to earn the trust of other races by proposing a coalition against the Lorkans.
